Description
Site-specific folded stainless-steel bench at the Jorgi Reboul Public Library
BodyFold, Stainless-Steel Bench – Jorgi Reboul Public Library
This site-specific bench translates the crisp folds of origami into brushed stainless steel, forming a durable, low-maintenance landmark for the library plaza. Angled planes invite varied seating postures while catching and scattering ambient light, turning a functional element into quiet sculpture.
Technically, the piece had to be lightweight yet robust. Sheets of 1 mm stainless steel were laser-cut, hand-bent, and then assembled into a closed shell without any welding—a challenge met through precise tolerances and concealed mechanical fasteners. The result is a strong, seamless structure that balances visual delicacy with public-space resilience.
